You reached out towards the light switch next to your bed, flipping the switch and turning off the lights. You close your eyes and think that the breathing sound you heard in the bathroom was just some breeze that passed by. You suddenly feel like someone is sitting on top of you. Trying to move, you wonder why you're paralyzed and maybe think that this is one of your sleep paralysis episodes. You try to stay positive and think that this will end quickly, but you hear a sudden laugh similar to a child's. After the child's laughter had ended, you feel a sharp stabbing pain in your chest and you quickly turn on the lights and see a knife plunged into your heart. You fall to the floor and bleed out eventually.

You open the door leading towards the basement, you see a switch to your left as soon as you enter. You flip the switch and head downwards and you see that the basement looks empty. All you see is a dusty old chest of some sorts, you brush off the dust on top of it. You try to open the chest but it won't budge. You try looking for the key to the chest while also trying to see where the loud banging noises were coming from. You walk towards the other side of the basement where you see this picture of a child.

You stare into the eyes of the child in the painting, mesmerized by the style of art used in creating the masterpiece. You try to look away but you can't seem to move anymore. You hear the laugh of a child, then the lights in the basement suddenly explode and shoot shrapnel everywhere in the room. You feel the tiny bits of glass embedded onto your skin while the blood drips toward the floor little by little. You then feel a push from the painting and fall backwards. As soon as you hit the floor, the shrapnel embedded onto your skin thrust deeper into your body. You slowly lose your breath...

You and Betsy decide to go around town and meet nearby neighbors. The first house you approached is much bigger than yours and had lots of outdoor decorations, you ring the doorbell and a young man wearing a suit opens the door. He says <i>"Good Afternoon! How may I help you?"</i> You reply <i>"Oh hello neighbor! We were just passing by and we wanted to say hello! The house we rented is the one over there *pointing towards the rented house*"</i> The young man slams the door on our faces with no hesitations. You and Betsy questions why he did that and move on to the next neighbor. The next neighbor is not home after ringing the doorbell numerous times. So you and Betsy decide to go to a nearby coffee shop. After ordering two Americanos, you and Betsy sat down and listened in on the conversations of the people in the coffee shop. Both of you overhear a couple talking to each other saying <i>"Did you hear that some people rented Lucius' house again? Do you think something might happen AGAIN to the people who stay there? People say that it's haunted right?"</i> Creeped out by what the couple was talking about, you and Betsy headed back to the house and cook dinner since it was almost 6:00 PM.
</p>
<p class="par">
As soon as you and Betsy arrived in the house, both of you were too tired to do anything else. So you decided to get the perishable goods from the trunk of your car and store it in the kitchen. You headed to the downstairs bedroom while Betsy went to the second floor bedroom. Being too tired to change your clothes or brush your teeth, you just climbed onto your bed and fell asleep in under a minute.
</p>
<p class="par">
You were awakened by a loud banging from somewhere beneath the house. You get up off your bed and go to the living room but do not see Betsy. You try checking up on Betsy but she is still sleeping. You notice the noise stopped and go back downstairs, you then deduce that the noise may be coming from the basement, but you suddenly remember Lucius telling you to stay away from the basement. What will you do?

You and Betsy decide to stay in the house for the rest of the day because you guys want to rest from the really long drive. But first, you and Betsy take out the groceries from the trunk of your car and brought them to the kitchen. You put all the drinks and frozen food in the refrigerator, while putting all the others in certain cabinets around the kitchen. You open a certain cabinet and you see a weird stain that is somewhat reddish in color, you neglect it and close the cabinet. As soon as you turned around, you approached Betsy and asked her if it was okay if you took the second floor bedroom, she agreed and headed into her room and so did you. Heading up the stairs, you hear the wood creak beyond your feet and you try to step carefully for the next few steps as you reach the landing of the second floor. You head into your room and notice that it is painted in such a way that it looks like a childrens room, but you fit in the bed nonetheless and take a nap.
</p>
<p class="par">
After your nap, you head downstairs and you notice that the creaking of the steps got louder for some reason but you don't mind it. You check the time and it is 6:03 PM. You decide to make dinner alone since Betsy is still asleep, you grab the frozen steak in the refrigerator and thaw it out for a bit. Preparing the marinade, you hear someone's footsteps approaching. You look back and see Betsy with her hair all messy and you just laugh then get back to making the marinade again. Betsy offers to help you cook by preparing the table for dinner, she then goes back to the kitchen after she sets the table. Both of you finish cooking the steak and set it on the table. Betsy says <i>"It smells great! You must be a natural chef *heh*"</i> You reply <i>"Not really, my Mom just used to let me help her with cooking meals when I was a kid. Maybe it just rubbed off on me. *heh*"</i>
</p>
<p class="par">
After dinner, you and Betsy cleaned up and headed straight to your own respective bedrooms since both of you were still tired from the trip. You just say that both of you will explore the city tomorrow morning. You head up to the room and start brushing your teeth, while you were brushing your teeth you hear someone breathing over your shoulder. You look at the mirror and you see nothing. You hurriedly spit out the mixture of saliva and toothpaste into the sink and headed straight to your bed afterwards. Will you sleep with the lights on or off?

It is the first day of your summer vacation! You decide to make most of your time since all you have been doing the past few months was study. Eventually, you think that going out of town will be a great idea. Due to your excitement you pick up your phone and call your best friend ever since grade school to tell her about the idea. You say excitedly <i>"Hey Betsy! Do you want to go out of town with me for a week? I just need a break from everything right now and there's no better way to spend a vacation with than with your bestest friend!"</i> She replies <i>"Sure why not? I'm not doing anything anyways. Just look for an affordable place we can chill in; don't worry I'll pay for my expenses as well!"</i> After the chat with Betsy, you rush towards your nifty desktop computer and search for available places to reside in for a week. You come across a small house enough for you and your best friend, it's details are as follows:
</p>
<ul id="deets">
<li>2 Fully stocked Bedrooms</li>
<li>2 Fully stocked Bathrooms</li>
<li>Kitchen</li>
<li>Air Conditioner in both Bedrooms</li>
<li>Living Room with TV</li>
<li>Note: The attic and basement are OFF LIMITS!</li>
<li>All for a price of $20 a night!</li>
<li>Address is at: 166 Dover Street, Miami City</li>
<li>Contact: Lucius Santana</li>

</ul>

After seeing this house, you immediately call Betty once again and say <i>"Hey Bets! (A childhood nickname of hers) Are you alright with spending $50 for lodging? That's already split-up for both of us!"</i> She replies <i>"Wow! Where did you find that house? Sounds like a great deal! Let's take it and leave first thing tomorrow morning!"</i> After the call had ended, you hurriedly packed clothes good for a week and all essentials for out of town trips, then you jump onto your bed eagerly awaiting the next day. The morning after, you pick up Bets in her house and drive towards your destination. On the way to the house, both you and Betsy stopover at a grocery to buy supplies for your stay in Miami. You were tasked to get the food while Betsy got the drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Both of you meet up in the counter and pay for everything you picked out. As you head towards the car, you see a crow perched on top of your car and you shoo it away, put all the groceries in the trunk and drive away. Finally, you reach your destination on Dover Street and park in the garage. You meet Lucius and pay him in full for your lodging. He emphasizes not to go to the attic and the basement, and leaves without saying anything else. You look at your watch and notice that it is only 3:00PM, what should you and Betsy do?

<p>
You wake up from your deep slumber, trying not to think about what had happened last night. You check the clock an it says that it is 6:03 AM. You head towards the kitchen and you see Betsy already awake. She seems to be cooking bacon and eggs for the both of you. You approach her and ask if she needs any help. She stares back at you with a blank face and gets back to cooking. You're confused on what she did, but maybe it has to do something with what happened last night. So you decide to set the dining table and wait for Betsy to finish cooking. When she finishes cooking, you see that everything she cooked was burnt to a crisp. You then ask her <i>"Is there something wrong with you? Are you feeling okay?"</i> She replies <i>"Yes I am! What makes you say I'm not? I'm also sorry for burning the food, I don't know what came over me. Maybe I'll just rest for a bit."</i> Betsy goes back to her room very slowly...
</p>
<p>
When Betsy had gone into her room, you cooked yourself a meal of bacon and eggs. While frying the bacon, you suddenly hear Betsy scream from her room. Due to this, you drop the frying pan onto the floor with the hot oil spilling out and burning a part of your left leg. You let out a grunt of pain and headed to Betsy's room. As you open the door you see Betsy floating in midair above her bed. You try waking her up from her sleep, but to no avail. You rush towards the door, but suddenly it closes shut! You look over your shoulder and you see that Betsy is slowly hovering towards you while letting out a series of laughter. But the laughs didn't sound like hers, it sounded as if she was possessed by a child. You try to run towards the nearest lamp that may be used as a weapon. You grab the lamp, but Betsy grabs your left leg and aggrevates your burn. This does not stop you from whacking the possessed Betsy with the lamp. She falls to the floor unconscious. You limp towards the exit of the house, but as soon as you touch the doorknob of the main entrance. You hear the laugh of a child and you suddenly feel a tight grasp around your left foot. The possessed Betsy drags you up to the attic of the house, and locks you inside the attic. There you see numerous corpses of people, knowing that soon you will be one of them. You look towards the small circular thick-plated window to the outside of the house, shouting out <i>"HELP ME !!"</i> Which results to you losing your voice in the process and you have nothing else to do but wait.
</p>
<p>
You stay stuck in the attic, with the view of the outside. Wishing that you had done something else, but alas this is your fate. You feel your body weakening little by little, your thirst and hunger have become unbearable, you know that it is your time...
</p>
<p>
The house on dover street has claimed its victims. Who else will fall for this enigma of a trap? There are always unlucky people in the world, you and Betsy were among the fated ones. Close your eyes and everything will just fade away...
